Joe Petro assumed the role of executive vice president and chief technology officer in September 2018. He is responsible for overseeing research, platform development, application development, dev ops, and cloud readiness for the company.

Joe joined Nuance in 2008 as senior vice president of healthcare research and development, having previously served as senior vice president of product development at Eclipsys Corporation, where he oversaw the development of more than 30 solution sets spanning diverse healthcare environments. Over the course of his career, he has held a number of executive roles both in venture‑backed startups and large‑scale enterprises.

Joe holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of New Hampshire and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Kettering University.
