Mass General Brigham Expands Home Hospital Services for Oncology Care

April 16, 2025

Mass General Brigham is expanding its Home Hospital services to provide acute care for oncology patients, in line with the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute’s goal of improving access to high-quality care. This initiative addresses the capacity challenges faced by traditional hospitals and reduces "time toxicity" for patients, enabling them to receive oral cancer medications at home while managing other medical conditions. Specially trained Home Hospital clinicians will work alongside the Cancer Institute team to ensure coordinated care, prioritizing patient comfort and safety by minimizing hospital visits. The program, which is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S., currently serves 72 communities in the Greater Boston area and now includes services such as managing enteral nutrition and implanted ports.

April 16, 2025

Northeast Radiology has agreed to a $350,000 settlement to resolve potential HIPAA violations stemming from a hacking incident that compromised the data of nearly 300,000 patients. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office for Civil Rights found that the practice failed to perform an adequate risk analysis to protect electronic protected health information. The settlement mandates a corrective action plan, which will be monitored for two years, and requires the practice to conduct a comprehensive HIPAA security risk analysis.
