Dan Exley

Dan has worked in healthcare throughout his life and has served as a leader in analytics and informatics since 2002. He was responsible for major aspects of the Epic implementation project at NorthShore University Health System – the first-ever deployment of the Epic suite across an entire healthcare system. He then formed and led the Analytics and Data Strategy division at MemorialCare Health System in Southern California, supporting the organization’s transformation from a group of hospitals to an integrated delivery system caring for a population of over a million patients every year.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Dan led the Analytics and Data Science practice for Sharp Healthcare, ensuring reliable, actionable information was available to drive decision making in all aspects of operations.

To promote innovation and collaboration among healthcare provider organizations, Dan founded the Healthcare Advanced Analytics Consortium, and lead the organization from 2015 to 2018, guiding research and knowledge sharing between healthcare provider members and industry partners. He is in high demand for public speaking on the topics of Analytics, Data Strategy, Agile, Lean, and Informatics. He has spoken at HIMSS, SAP Sapphire, Epic UGM, and the Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit.

To contribute to the development of the next generation of healthcare technology professionals, Dan teaches in the Master of Bioinformatics program at The University of Chicago and has been a regular lecturer and program developer at the USC Marshall School of Business and the Mihaylo School of Business at California State University Fullerton. He is a mentor to new ideas and companies through the Matter Chicago and Cedars-Sinai Accelerator programs.
