Welcome to this week, health my name is Bill Russell. I'm a former CIO for a 16 hospital system and creator of this week Health. A set of channels dedicated to keeping health IT staff current and engaged. Today we have an interview in action from the 2023 Spring conferences, vibe in Nashville and hymns in Chicago.

Special thanks to our cDW, Rubrik, Sectra and Trellix for choosing to invest in our mission to develop the next generation of health leaders.

You can check them out on our website this week, health.com, now onto this interview.

Here we are from Hymns 2023, and another interview in action. We're here with uh, Mindy Machetes. Moches. Mm-hmm. With trellis. That's right. You know, It's, interesting because two really great companies, so you have McAfee and FireEye come together, but still, when I say the word trellis, people are look, they look at me like, who's Trellis?

What is trellis about? So do you get that as well? I assume you get that a little bit.

We do get that, and that's what we're trying to do is help people understand specifically our customers, but most importantly our customers and our partners as well, that support our business. They need to know who we are.

As the Trellis brand, you hear a lot about Legacy McAfee and people have perceptions on what McAfee is or was and FireEye as well. And we need to educate our customers on who Trellis is bringing together both technologies into one platform.

So what is Trellis?

Trex is a complete XDR security solution that.

Brings the endpoint from McAfee and the, in the edr, the response and then the forensics technology from FireEye to have that unified endpoint solution for xdr.

Is, is there a managed solution around it or is it more the, just the technology platform?

It is a technology platform, so we do services for our customers as well, so, Charlottes does provide professional services when we do deployments and throughout the entire platform experience as well.

So what are you hearing from clients as you're out there talking to them? , what are the biggest challenges they're facing with cybersecurity today?

One of the biggest challenges that our customers are facing would be just the number of threat alerts that they're receiving. And a lot of the analysts, especially in the soc.

Uh, the SOC teams are dealing with alert fatigue. They're overloaded, they aren't given the resources, the training that they need, and the alerts and all of those threat actors that are coming at them on a daily basis are just overwhelming. So one of our goals is to really reduce the threat fatigue for those soc

so, And that's done I mean primarily through the fire eye.

And I assume you're using machine learning, artificial intelligence.

We are using machine learning, artificial intelligence. We have our helix, which is that forensics layer. So, we are providing that, that full, Suite of security products. We have cloud security, email security, data security, and network security as well. 📍

We'll get back to our show in just a minute. I am excited about our webinars this year. They have been going very well. What I've done is I've gone out and talked to people in the community and said, what works in webinars?

And they came back and said, look, this is what we want. We want a webinar that is not product centric. It's really focused in on the problems of health care. And we want people on there that are actually solving those problems. And so we have done that. And the response has been fantastic this year. We have another webinar coming up.

It is the future of care spaces. Where care is being delivered is changing rapidly. Even the care spaces within the hospital themselves are changing. Technology is being added in different types of technology. A. I obviously computer vision and whatnot is changing that modality as well as what's going on in the home and whatnot.

So we're gonna have that webinar June 8th at one p. m. Easter time. We usually have it on the first Thursday. Happens to be a little too close to my anniversary. So we're going to do June 8th at 1 p. m. Eastern time future of care spaces. We would love to have you be a part of it. If you are interested in being there, go ahead and hit our website.

Top right hand corner. We have a card. You can click on that card and go ahead and fill out the form and get registered today. We would love to have you join us we look forward to seeing you there. Now back to our show.

📍

I've heard ai, so it used to be when you heard ai, you thought it was a buzzword. Now I'm hearing it integrated into my, gosh, we, we just interviewed somebody who has a lamp that you put in a home for aging parents that is using AI to determine falls and that kind of stuff. And this is like, it's really.

Starting to become that, that assistant that we anticipated it would become where it comes alongside of us and says, look, that burden, that that lift is too heavy, we're gonna filter some of this stuff for you.

Yeah. I think AI has a long ways still to come, and I think that customers need to trust what AI is becoming, and I think that's a hurdle.

Yeah, absolutely. So, what, what else, I mean, there's a whole security section here and whatnot. What, what else are you hearing at the conference?

I haven't really spoken to specific customers of mine in terms of some of their concerns. There is a lot of commercial customers here and I support the federal market. But again, I think everyone is really concerned about the threat landscape, who those threat actors are and what they're up against on a daily basis.

Yeah, it's, it's interesting as we, talk about ai, it's like, you know, this is a great tool. It's a great tool to use on this side. It's also a tool that's being used on the other side. That's right. To generate some pretty sophisticated phishing attacks. Some pretty sophisticated there's been some talk of AI actually generating code that that can do things.

This is gonna be a tool that gets used on, on both sides. Then the other interesting thing I've heard I just never even thought about this in the threat landscape, but when you think about it, we give away information all the time, and I was talking to somebody that said, yeah, they cut off access to ChatGPT in their company.

I'm like, well, why did they cut it off? He Said, well, it turns out they were giving away their intellectual property, like the, the engineers were actually putting it in there and saying, Hey, can you give us the next step or the next thing? I was like, no, no, you can't. You can't just put that in there. It's like you're, you're actually just giving away that data.

That's true. And we also have to understand that email is the biggest threat that, that our customers have 70 plus percent of those threats are coming from the internal organization through email. And it's a vulnerability that is you know, intentional from the email users, but that's really the the weakest point that our customers have.

Yeah. Fantastic. Mindy, I wanna thank you for your time.

Thank you so much. It was a pleasure meeting you. Thank you.

📍 Another great interview. I wanna thank everybody who spent time with us at the conference. I love hearing from people on the front lines and it's phenomenal that they've taken the time to share their wisdom and experience with the community. It is greatly appreciated.

We wanna thank our partners, CDW, Rubrik, Sectra and Trellix, who invest in 📍 our mission to develop the next generation of health leaders. Thanks for listening. That's all for now. 📍
