If you go back to the core mission of what is healthcare here for? What is the mission? Essentially it's about patient care, about patient safety. And if that's not happening, then undoubtedly, you're impacting the patient in an adverse way.
The area where health systems want Epic to make improvements is the exact area where Oracle and Salesforce are pretty strong. Right? But is that compelling enough to have this huge rip and replace and shift to these systems? I'm not saying that. But I think it's probably interesting enough to have a conversation about what could be possible.
Large cyber attacks are exponentially more difficult than putting together a compelling email to get a possibly unsuspecting recipient of an email, to interact with some malware. I can train somebody to surf LinkedIn or Facebook or Twitter, gather some basic reconnaissance, have some basic template emails already built out and educate that person to create a very compelling email. And I just need to be right a couple of times. And then I'm into your health system.
There needs to be more investment in cybersecurity across the board for healthcare. I understand a lot of factors play into it from budget and resource standpoints. There's a lot of constraints. But I think one of the remedies is understanding who is being attacked in your environment. There’s a lot of data and research about where bad actors are focusing their time and energy.
Credentials are the nirvana state of any bad actor or cyber criminal organization. They get your credentials and then they have an incredible ability to decide what sort of exploit they want to launch against your institution.
