Mitch Parker is CISO at the University of Indiana Health, based in Indianapolis. He formerly served as CISO at the four-hospital Temple University Health System as well as CISO for Temple's clinical faculty practice plan, Temple University Physicians. Previously, he was an information security consultant to the Defense Logistics Agency and others.



No application, no system will be a hundred percent compliant and anyone that tries to be will be bankrupt. What you want to do is your best effort to make sure that they are as compliant as humanly possible, which is difficult.
How do you determine the right amount of funding for a cyber program? You go back to your quantitative risk assessment. You take a look at your risk management plan and you also take a look at your strategic plan. I actually think it's more a function of your long range strategic plan in IT than any other factor.
You reserve the hospitals for the sickest of the sick. There are other ways to care for those who don’t need it.
The issues are not with technology as much as they are with the logistics of taking a huge workforce that has never worked from home and getting them to work from home within two weeks.
