Summary
Emergence of large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT revolutionizes AI usage in healthcare. LLMs assist healthcare processes, aid decision-making, administration, patient engagement, research, training, public health. Prompt engineering, designing instructions for LLMs, emerges as vital skill. However, LLMs’ disadvantages include outdated information, lack of user data processing, and inability for empathic interaction, requiring user scrutiny. Research focuses on better prompt design. Improvement in prompt engineering involves understanding AI principles, familiarizing with specific LLM, and practice. Effective prompts should be specific, context-inclusive, varied, goal-oriented, contain role-play, and be iterative. Application of Thread system, open-ended questions, examples, temporal context, realistic expectations, and one shot/few shot prompting method also useful. Professional LLM education urged to include practical prompt engineering tips.
