Summary
Microsoft has unveiled enhancements to its Windows Resiliency Initiative in response to a global IT outage caused by a flawed software update from CrowdStrike in July 2024, which affected over 8.5 million devices. Key features include enabling IT administrators to adjust Windows Update settings remotely for unbootable PCs, improving recovery and system management. This new capability will be available to the Windows Insider Program in early 2025. Additionally, Microsoft plans to implement safe deployment practices in partnership with endpoint security providers and will allow developers to create security solutions that function outside of kernel mode, enhancing overall system security.
