Historically, women's health issues have been overlooked in medical research and funding, with significant disparities in the attention given to conditions like menopause compared to men's health concerns. This has led to a healthcare system that often dismisses women's specific needs. However, recent advocacy from younger women is shifting the focus toward better understanding and treatment of these issues. Funding for women's health startups remains limited, with only $44 million allocated to endometriosis initiatives compared to $1.24 billion for erectile dysfunction between 2019 and 2023. Nevertheless, there is increasing interest among investors in women's health markets, particularly in digital solutions, as evidenced by a peak in venture capital investments in 2021 and a resurgence in 2023, signaling a growing commitment to addressing long-neglected health needs.
