Approximately 1% of newborns are diagnosed with significant congenital heart disease (CHD), but traditional echocardiography becomes less effective as patients age due to changing anatomical structures. Recognizing this limitation, Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) and Arkansas Children's Northwest (ACNW) have implemented advanced imaging techniques, such as MRI and CT scans, to enhance diagnostic capabilities for both pediatric and adult CHD patients. The recent establishment of a remote control system for MRI and CT scanners at ACNW is a significant step towards improving access to these vital services in rural areas, alleviating travel burdens for families. This initiative underscores the importance of specialized imaging in managing CHD and highlights the potential for technology to bridge gaps in healthcare accessibility.
