Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) has implemented AI-driven autonomous coding in response to ongoing challenges related to a shortage of medical coders, which affected operational efficiency and revenue. By partnering with CodaMetrix to automate radiology coding, OHSU aimed to reduce case backlogs and improve coder workload while minimizing errors associated with manual processes. The initiative achieved a 92% automation rate, resulting in a nearly 28% reduction in coder workload and a 70% decrease in coding-related denials for autonomously coded cases.
