Illinois is launching a digital maternal health pilot project for 56,000 participants in rural Cook County, featuring an AI agent named Avery to enhance maternal care services. Collaborating with Drive Health and Google, the initiative aims to provide real-time health advice and manage care plans, addressing disparities in maternal health in areas with limited access to essential services. Alarmingly, the state's infant mortality rate and untreated behavioral health conditions among pregnant women underscore the need for this program. Participants will receive a Google Pixel 8a phone and a Fitbit Inspire 3 device to interact with Avery and track their health metrics, enabling personalized health recommendations, including nutrition and chronic disease management.
