Healthcare Burnout Rates Decline, But Pharmacy Pros and Medical Students Struggle

In 2023, burnout among healthcare professionals remained a pressing issue, with pharmacy professionals experiencing the highest rates at 62%, despite a decrease from 66% in 2022. According to the 2024 State of Well-Being Report by the Mayo Clinic, overall burnout among healthcare workers was reported at 50%, down from 54% the previous year. However, medical students faced increasing challenges, with burnout rising from 51% to 58%. The findings, based on assessments from over 197,000 healthcare workers, suggest a mixed landscape of well-being improvements across different roles, particularly highlighting the unique stressors affecting medical students.
