Cybersecurity expert Joshua Corman warned that escalating cyber threats signify a critical weakness, especially for smaller hospitals that often face severe financial distress from such attacks. Data from Emsisoft indicates a stark rise in cyber attacks on hospitals in 2023. In response, the Biden administration aims to introduce minimum cybersecurity standards for hospitals. However, the proposal has met resistance from the American Hospital Association, which fears these regulations could further burden victimized healthcare facilities.
