Amazon's cloud unit chief to step down after three years

Adam Selipsky, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), will resign on June 3 after leading the cloud division for three years. Selipsky, who played a significant role in AWS's growth, is stepping down to spend more time with family. Under his leadership, AWS doubled its sales to $90.8 billion and increased operating income significantly. However, AWS also faced criticism for lagging in generative AI services compared to competitors like Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Matt Garman, a veteran vice president at AWS, will replace him. AWS remains a crucial part of Amazon’s operations, contributing about 40% to its revenue.
