Michael Ross, MD, FAAP, FACMI, is the Chief Medical Information Officer for Northern Light Health - Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC), and a practicing General Pediatrician in Bangor, Maine. Dr. Ross splits his time 60/40% between Medical Informatics and General Pediatrics. Dr. Ross graduated from his pediatric residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center in 2003, and has been practicing in Maine since that time. From 2009-2014, Michael served as the co-chair of the Maine branch of the American Academy of Pediatrics quality improvement committee, and was the primary clinical consultant for the Children’s Health Insurance Program Re-authorization Act (CHIPRA/IHOC). As a lead Physician of EMMC Pediatrics (2011-2015), Dr. Ross pioneered practice and system-wide improvements in pediatric care with a focus on health care delivery through maximizing the benefits of the Electronic Medical Record. In 2015, Dr. Ross combined his love of healthcare technology and outpatient medicine by accepting the role of Medical Information Officer of the outpatient practices of Eastern Maine Medical Center. In 2018, Ross was promoted to his current position as Medical Informatics office for all of EMMC and its affiliated practices, supervising a staff of 8 clinical informatics champions across a wide swath of specialties. Dr. Ross is board certified in Pediatrics (2003) and Medical Informatics (2015). His clinical interests include enhancing EHR adoption and education, maximizing primary care Computerized Decision Support (CDS), and empowering provider use of technology to enhance the connection with the patient. Michael is a veteran of multiple EHR go-lives, having lead implementations in the ambulatory and hospital setting, including a large Cerner system-wide ambulatory rollout of 150+ primary and multi-specialty practices. Michael is married to Kimberly Ross, a preschool teacher. They have 2 boys, Alex and Max.
