OSF, healthcare mandates, gen AI training to create an AI ready workforce. This is on healthcare it news. And I'm going to give you the. This would probably be a short one if I thought about it, because I'm just going to give you the brief summary and then we'll talk about it a little bit. So OSF, a 16 hospital system based in Peoria, Illinois. Has instituted mandatory generic training for 24,000 employees from custodians to the CEO. Thank God.

They're getting the CEO trained. Anyway, this initiative aims to improve efficiency and productivity across the organization to address varied AI literacy levels and short attention spans. OSS developed a brief engaging course. Using mixed media and generative AI tools. Completed by nearly 79% of employees, the training has elevated AI, understanding of relevance among staff. This comprehensive approach highlights the necessity of continuous learning to keep pace with evolving AI technologies and organizational needs.

What's the, so what on this, I've gotten away from this. I used to end every show with what's the, so what, why should you care about the story? I think there's a couple of reasons. One is AI is going to transform everything in everyone's life. And so this isn't just about training them for AI in healthcare.

This is about helping people to understand how AI. Can be used across the board. I was talking to somebody today. Who's a business owner in a completely different field than what I'm in. And we started talking about something and he said, I'm looking for an EA inexpensive ways. To review this document. And w. You know, And anyway, we were just talking I'm like, have you used gen AI? And he's no, I wouldn't think of using it for that.

I'm like, have you used the forgoes? Not really. I'm like, yeah. Feed the document in and then start asking questions about the document and it will provide you answers. It can do a summary for you. It can identify the five key points from it. Now you should read the document yourself, but at the end of the day, it's a good way to go back and forth with it. He's man, I never even thought about that.

He goes, how are you using Jedediah? So I gave him a couple of ways. We're using gen AI and how it's saving us thousands of dollars a week. And he's oh my gosh, thousands of dollars a week. That's just that. That could be six figures a year. I'm like it is it's well, over six figures a year we've been using gen AI pretty extensively over here. And so people have the opportunity to use gen AI, not only within business, but outside of business, they will appreciate the fact that you are training them on this emerging technology.

If nothing else, they can sound intelligent, their family and their friends as they have. Have these conversations. They will know what the words are that they're actually saying and hearing. And be a part of those conversations. I think this is a great. There's great value in doing this for all the employees.

I kid about the CEO and the custodian. But at the end of the day, there is value in them understanding AI and where it's going. At some point, AI will be driving our cars. AI will be I mean handling robots, it will be responding to emails. It will be generating notes. You name it, it's going to be doing those things.

We don't it's not a question of if it's a question of when and when we feel comfortable, when we put the right controls around it. So I'm not a bad service to your employees to get them trained. The other thing I want to point out and why the, so what on this is. This is a really effective. Way to, I believe that when you raise the. The capacity of the entire team. Your organization is going to go farther. One of the problems we have in healthcare is that we don't train everyone equally.

We train a handful of people. We send this person over to this training, this person, to this training, maybe even a handful of people to UGM. But we don't train the entire organization. I find the organizations that maintain their. Their education budgets and train as many people as possible or creatively come up with ways to train people.

When the budgets are tight, those organizations go farther. They just, they do. Better because again, when you elevate the education level and the competence level of the entire organization, it's just going to go farther. There's just no there's just no mistaking that. And so what do you do when your budget's been cut and your education buttons, but a budget's been cut. That's where you turn internally and you do things where you allow the people who have expertise internally to train the other people in your organization. When we stood up it university at St.

Joe's. We did. And it was on a shoestring budget. To be honest with you, it's not like we didn't have allocated money towards it. And I took a person, made them part-time on it. And they were more of a coordinator making sure that we set up the classes and got the information out and that kind of stuff.

But once we got it set up, my. My head of finance, taught a class on it, budgeting my head of infrastructure. I taught a class on core switching and routing. And it was really well attended because people are like, yeah, I want to know how information, how does this computer talk to that computer over there and get the information from point a to point B. And when you're doing basic level classes, which is all you really need to pull off. You can have the people who have the expertise within house actually teach other people.

And do you know what they grow in the process? Whenever somebody teaches something, they tend to learn the. The material more than if they were just sitting in the class. So it really benefits everybody all around. So my, so what on this. Quite frankly, is it's a good model. It's a good model to copy.

Probably not bad to to educate your entire workforce on generative AI. And the AI tools are out there and the terminology associated with it. So appreciate the work that OSF is doing, and hopefully we will see more people follow in their footsteps. All right. That's all for today. Don't forget.
