Check that out. I'll leave a link in the comments down below. Okay, here we go. Thanks for joining me today. Here's some stuff you might want to know about. Here's a big wow, Google might buy Wiz for 23 billion. There's a bunch of chatter online the past couple of days about the potential sale of WIS to Google's parent company, Alphabet.
The acquisition would be the largest ever done by Alphabet, making, for example, the Mandiant Buy look like small potatoes a couple of years ago at just 5. 4 billion. You probably know, but in case you don't, the company WIS provides cloud security platform services that help integrate lots of data.
Different security capabilities into a single key service. It's one of the fastest growing cloud security. Actually, it's one of the fastest growing companies ever in history. The acquisition could give Google a boost in the cloud security business. It may also help them cut into Amazon web services and Microsoft Azure's market share.
The acquisition of Wiz may not be clean and easy though. There's bound to be some regulatory antitrust scrutiny. And remember, WIS collaborates with several cloud providers, including both Microsoft and AWS. Some marketing and brand person must have decided that Friday's a good day to announce data breaches because on Friday, Pharmacy Giant Rite Aid confirmed that a data breach occurred after a cyber attack in June.
They've restored all systems and can't yet say what data was taken. The scumbags at Ransom Hub. Remember those guys from the Change Healthcare Attack? Yeah, those dirtbags. They said they have 10 gigs of customer data and all that data will be posted to its dark web data leak site sometime in the next two weeks.
AT& T. The data was from:But reporting this morning from Wired is that the carrier made a Bitcoin payment in exchange for the hackers deleting the data. It's just out of curiosity as a consumer, is this enough to cause you to switch your cell phone or your, or, or, or your drugstore from AT& T and Rite Aid? Just wondering. By the way, on Wednesday the 17th, there's a CISA Live event called Cybersecurity for Healthcare and Public Health.
The crew there will be digging into current cyber threats, including nation state actors, ransomware, along with free tools that are available to help prevent and help recover. Bye. Bye. from a cyber incident. Uh, I'd say just look up CISA on LinkedIn, but I tried that and holy cow, there's a lot of stuff out there named CISA.
So, I'll make it easy by posting the link to the event in the comments below.
