Using Intraprise Health's Blueprint Gen AI technology, security, compliance, and peace of mind. Find out more at IntrapriseHealth. com. I'm just back from Kansas City and Nashville, our 229 Project City Tour dinners. We had an amazing time. It was great to see everyone. And yes, cybersecurity was one of the main topics.
Everywhere we go, it seems like that's the case. So it's great to see you all today. Here's some stuff you might want to know about. After an off again on again tech company romance, Google's Alphabet has acquired cloud security company Wiz for 32 billion dollars in an all cash transaction. And it sounds like Wiz will continue to remain an independent platform that will work across all cloud providers, not just Google.
Now here's why this is a big deal, not only for cyber security but also for health care. Google Cloud has largely been drafting behind leaders like AWS and Azure in the overall cloud market space. And don't forget, there are great companies like Rackspace who've made real inroads in healthcare. But this deal has the potential to put more confidence in GCP, making it a stronger competitor in the healthcare space because of the security emphasis that kind of comes along with the Wiz acquisition.
The future is cloud, no doubt about it. Wiz is already. in that space deep across all cloud platforms. It'll be interesting to see how their relationships with the other non Google cloud platforms evolve because of the acquisition. So this acquisition of Wiz is just another thread in a very complicated tapestry of cloud security.
This won't be the last time we talk about it. On Tuesday's Drill, I mentioned that DOJ had fired 130 staff members at CISA. Well, over the past couple of days, a federal judge has ordered the reinstatement of those workers, saying the mass firings were unlawful. Now, CISA has reinstated those that were fired, but they immediately shifted those employees to a paid administrative leave status.
Now, I'm no efficiency expert, Oh, wait, actually, I think I kind of am an efficiency expert. Can you imagine going through this whipsaw process if you're one of those employees? Or even if you're not one of those employees, just part of the staff watching everyone get jerked around right now? What kind of culture is this creating?
for everyone else at CISA and across the government's entire cybersecurity human infrastructure. I'd like to know what you're thinking. And finally today it turns out that if the federal government doesn't want those cybersecurity workers, the states do. A message flashing on a billboard in DC's Union Station says, Fired by Doge?
New York State wants you. States are lining up to snap up federal cyber workers with Splashy recruiting ads, and fast track promotions, and advanced skills training. Which makes me think, healthcare leaders, this might be an opportunity for you too. Mission oriented, public good focused cyber professionals who are being kicked out of their jobs.
