They've literally built software that allows any Joe Schmoe off the street to create a fake site that looks like a real company site to collect usernames and passwords and credit cards, all from unsuspecting victims. And Joe Schmoe in this scenario needs little or no technical skill, thus the as a service component.

They've just announced a new, even easier version of the software that will be released shortly, appropriately called the Darkula Suite. It lifts even more technical requirements from the cyber thug who buys it. The phishing as a service software includes a friendly user admin dashboard, campaign performance measurement tools, and automated credit card theft and digital wallet loading.

The DIY phishing kit also allows its customers to insert the URL for a brand they want to impersonate and the software will generate all the clone pages, the images, all the required templates for the attack. With this new software, you should expect phishing volumes to increase. And the final story today, this one just announced one of CrowdStrike's longest serving executives, Chief Security Officer Sean Henry, plans to retire from the company by the end of March, according to a filing with the SEC. He will remain as Executive Advisor to the CEO. Prior to CrowdStrike, Henry was Executive Assistant Director at the FBI.

where he led investigations into cyber criminal activities. Personally, I'll say I've been lucky to spend some time with Sean over the past few years. He's the kind of leader who gets the very best from his people. And while he's retiring from CrowdStrike, I hope we get to see him back in the field soon.
