Billy Prows is the Emerging Technologies & Innovation Strategist at Intermountain Healthcare.
William “Billy” Prows started his career in healthcare IT at Intermountain Healthcare 26 years ago, as a self-taught, unpaid intern trying to figure out what he wanted to be when he grew up. This started an unexpected, brilliant journey that has allowed him the opportunity to work in a variety of roles, on a broad array of projects, interacting with many different departments, leaders, clinical programs and industry partners. This has instilled a passion for healthcare, for caregivers, for patients, and most importantly a determination to deliver solutions that delight customers and enable the community Intermountain serves to “live the healthiest lives possible.”
The last 16 years Billy has worked for Intermountain’s Emerging Technologies and Innovations department as a strategist focused on looking at new and emerging technologies and their potential efficacy in healthcare. This role has included co-chairing an executive-sponsored patient room of the future initiative aimed at taking a wholistic approach to the patient room, what it is now and what it will look like in the future; supporting a multi-year computer vision research project in partnership with Stanford University; aiding Intermountain’s COVID-19 response to the community by converting a 40-foot RV into a mobile COVID-19 testing unit working with care teams to test communities in need and supporting dozens of pilots and proof of concepts aimed at de-risking technology investments.
