Previously, Dr. Chan was Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation where he led a clinical informatics team that focused on the optimization of the use of electronic health records (EHR) and personal health records (EHR) for patient care delivery and clinical operations. Additionally, Dr. Chan served as Co-Chair of the California Health and Human Services Agency’s Patient Engagement Work Group. He was also Co-Chair of the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) Personal Health Records Work Group, which developed criteria for personal health record software certification.
Dr. Chan received the “Future Leader” Health Care Hero Award from the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal in May 2012 and was a member of the 13th Cohort of the California Health Care Foundation Leadership Program, a two-year fellowship that offers clinically trained health care professionals the experiences, competencies, and skills necessary for effective vision and leadership of our health care system in the State of California. He was awarded the 2014 Epic PACAcademy Award, awarded annually to a physician member of Epic community, selected by his/her peers, in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Epic community.
