Hartford HealthCare, OnMed Team Up to Launch Nation's First Airport-Based Health Hub

June 17, 2025

Hartford HealthCare and OnMed have launched the U.S.’s first airport-based OnMed CareStation at Bradley International Airport, providing travelers and airport staff with a fully automated 8 × 10-foot kiosk that delivers virtual primary care. Walk-in patients can remotely consult licensed clinicians via high-definition video, while thermal sensors, a digital stethoscope, pulse oximetry, blood pressure cuffs, and body weight diagnostics capture vital data on-site. The kiosk handles up to 85% of common primary care concerns—such as infections, respiratory issues, rashes, headaches, heartburn—with the potential for e-prescriptions and specialist referrals, covered by most insurance plans. Requiring only a power outlet, it represents a blend of telehealth convenience and in-person clinical capability, bridging care access gaps in high-traffic settings and underserved regions

Data Breaches of Software Firms Ocuco and Episource Hit Health Sector

June 17, 2025

Ocuco and Episource have reported significant data breaches in the health sector, affecting hundreds of thousands of individuals. Ocuco's breach involved unauthorized access to its network server, impacting nearly 241,000 people due to a vulnerability in third-party software, with a ransomware group claiming to have stolen over 340 gigabytes of data. The company is conducting a review to identify affected individuals and plans to notify them accordingly. Meanwhile, Episource faced a ransomware incident affecting thousands, including 24,259 individuals in Texas, with unauthorized access occurring between late January and early February. Although the breach hasn't been reported to the HHS Office for Civil Rights, many of Episource’s healthcare clients are issuing public notices about the compromised personal and health information.

RPM Devices Transform Patient Monitoring, Show Promise for Reshaping Cancer Care

June 17, 2025

Wearable devices are reshaping cancer care by enabling continuous, real-world monitoring of patients throughout treatment. They provide clinicians with rich streams of biometric data that help gauge fitness levels, track side effects, and predict complications earlier than traditional, episodic check-ins. Systematic reviews involving thousands of patients show high adherence (often over 80%), revealing wearables’ feasibility for treatment monitoring, rehabilitation, and prognostication. Moreover, emerging AI‑driven platforms (e.g., CardioAI for detecting treatment‑induced cardiac risk) promise to integrate wearable data with predictive analytics to catch adverse events preemptively. As evidence mounts, these tools are poised to move oncology toward personalized, proactive care—shifting from reactive visits to near‑real‑time, data-informed interventions.
