Summary
The BianLian ransomware group has targeted Boston Children's Health Physicians (BCHP) in a cyberattack, threatening to release stolen data unless a ransom is paid. The breach, which began with an attack on BCHP's IT vendor on September 6, 2024, led to unauthorized access to sensitive information of patients and employees. An investigation confirmed that while substantial data, including personal and medical details, has been compromised, BCHP's electronic medical records were secure. Affected individuals will be notified by October 25, 2024, particularly those with exposed Social Security numbers and driver's licenses.
