Summary
UC Davis Health has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI) scribe to enhance doctor-patient interactions by automatically transcribing conversations during medical visits, allowing physicians to focus more on their patients rather than on note-taking. A survey conducted prior to implementation revealed that while 73% of patients felt heard, 23% expressed concern that their doctors were distracted by recording notes. Feedback also indicated mixed feelings towards the AI scribe, with 48% of patients viewing it positively, yet concerns remained regarding the accuracy of the notes, privacy, and security. This initiative underscores the ongoing challenge of balancing technological advancements in healthcare with the need for personal patient engagement.
