Couris is recognized as a national expert in health care, organizational leadership and workplace culture transformation, building successful companies by driving innovation, operational excellence, and team member and stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
He provides counsel and works closely with elected officials at all levels to help address issues impacting the health care industry in Florida and on a national scale. Couris was recently appointed to a three-year term as a member of the Florida Health Care Innovation Council.
Couris often speaks and presents at national and international conferences on leadership, organizational transformation, consumerism, innovation and empowering high-performing teams. His most recent speaking engagements and panel appearances include the Veterans Health - MIT Hacking Medicine 2024 at the USF Morsani College of Medicine, the ViVE 2024 conference, Harvard Medical School (2024), JP Morgan Healthcare (2024), Press Ganey 2024 Human Experience Summit, Vizient Inc. Annual Meeting, (2024), Milken Institute Future of Health Summit (2023), KLAS (2023) and the ACHE Annual Meeting (2023).
Couris serves as an expert source and contributor to multiple national publications, offering insights on topics ranging from his visionary approach to care coordination to the principles of authentic leadership.
Advocating for his community and industry, Couris is a member of several boards and has earned appointments to state and national councils. He has received numerous awards and accolades and was recently awarded the President's Fellow Medallion from the University of South Florida, one of the highest honors the USF President can bestow.
Couris holds a doctorate in business administration, management sciences from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business, where he is a Research Fellow. His dissertation examined the impact of the practice of authentic leadership on teams and organizations.
